Passport Renewals

Applicants must personally appear at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the U.S. Consulate in Dubai for all passport services. We highly recommend that you follow the links on this page and fill out the required forms online and print them before coming to your appointment.

Abu Dhabi

To apply for a passport through the U.S. Embassy, please make an appointment on our  online appointment system and bring the required documents listed below. The U.S. Embassy requests that applicants present original documents along with accompanying photocopies of all the original documents when submitting their application.

Dubai

To apply for a passport through the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai, please make an appointment on our  online appointment system and bring the required documents listed below to your appointment.  The Consulate requests that applicants present original documents along with accompanying photocopies of all the original documents when submitting their application. The Consulate will charge AED 4.00 per copy.

Applicant is Under Age 16

  • The child and both parents must appear in person unless one parent presents an original court order for sole custody, a death certificate for the other parent, or a notarized Statement of Consent or Special Circumstances (PDF 52 KB) from the absent parent.
  • Original birth certificate (with English translation if applicable) or original adoption decree, and one copy
  • Applicant’s most recent passport, and one copy of the passport bio data page
  • Parents’ valid passports or government-issued photo IDs, and one copy of the passport bio data page for each parent
  • DS-11 passport form (fill out online and print) Please note:You must provide a Social Security number, if you have been issued one, in accordance with 22 U.S.C. 2714a and 22 C.F.R 51.60(f).If you do not have a Social Security number, you must submit a signed statement including the phrase, “I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the following is true and correct:  I have never been issued a Social Security Number by the Social Security Administration.”For more information, please see Frequently Asked Questions.
  • passport photo (PDF 45 KB) – *Starting November 1 2016, eye glasses will no longer be allowed in passport photos.
  • Fees: 387AED, payable in cash or by credit card. Some of the credit/debit cards are not accepted by the system.

Applicant is Over Age 16 AND Most Recent Passport was Valid for 5 Years

  • Applicant must appear in person (16 & 17 years old, one parents must appear in person with applicant)
  • Applicant’s most recent passport, and one copy of the passport bio data page
  • If the passport is expired, you need to bring one valid photo I.D.
  • For 16 & 17 years old applicant: Original birth certificate (with English translation if applicable) or original adoption decree, and one copy
  • DS-11 passport application form (fill out online and print)
  • Please note: You must provide a Social Security number, if you have been issued one, in accordance with 22 U.S.C. 2714aand 22 C.F.R 51.60(f).If you do not have a Social Security number, you must submit a signed statement including the phrase, “I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the following is true and correct:  I have never been issued a Social Security Number by the Social Security Administration. Your application will not be submitted until you have applied for a social security number. If the child is over the age of 12 you will need to bring proof of living outside of the US to submit with the application.

Applicant is Over Age 16 AND Most Recent Passport was Valid for 10 Years

  • Applicant must appear in person
  • Applicant’s most recent passport, and one copy of the passport bio data page
  • DS-82 passport form (fill out online and print) Please note:You must provide a Social Security number, if you have been issued one, in accordance with 22 U.S.C. 2714a and 22 C.F.R 51.60(f).If you do not have a Social Security number, you must submit a signed statement including the phrase, “I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the following is true and correct:  I have never been issued a Social Security Number by the Social Security Administration.”For more information, please see Frequently Asked Questions.

Most Recent Passport is Less than 1 Year Old and Needs Data Correction

  • Applicant (or child and one parent) must appear in person
  • Applicant’s most recent passport, and one copy of the passport bio data page
  • Evidence supporting change in identifying information (e.g., marriage certificate, amended birth certificate, court order, etc.), and one copy
  • DS-5504 passport form (fill out online and print) Please note:You must provide a Social Security number, if you have been issued one, in accordance with 22 U.S.C. 2714a and 22 C.F.R 51.60(f).If you do not have a Social Security number, you must submit a signed statement including the phrase, “I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the following is true and correct:  I have never been issued a Social Security Number by the Social Security Administration.”For more information, please see Frequently Asked Questions.
