Passport Cards

The U.S. Embassy now accepts applications for the U.S. Passport Card. The Passport Card is a travel document that can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports of entry. The Passport Card cannot be used for international air travel.

If you would like to apply for a Passport Card when applying for a new passport, you only need to submit one form and check the two boxes at the top for “U.S. Passport Book” and “U.S. Passport Card.” The fee is $15 USD for applicants under age 16 and $30 USD for applicants age 16 and older. This is payable in U.S. dollars, dirhams, or by credit card. Effective April 1, 2021, the Consular Section will use the U.S. Dollar to UAE Dirham exchange rate of $1 USD to 3.70 Emirati Dirhams (formerly $1 USD to 3.69 AED). The Passport Card takes longer to issue than the Passport Book. Processing takes four to six weeks.

To apply for a passport card, please make an appointment on our online appointment system and follow the instructions for renewing a passport.
