The U.S. Consulate now accepts applications for the U.S. Passport Card. The Passport Card is a travel document that can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports of entry. The Passport Card cannot be used for international air travel.
If you would like to apply for a Passport Card when applying for a new passport, you only need to submit one form and check the two boxes at the top for “U.S. Passport Book” and “U.S. Passport Card.” The fee is 58 AED for applicants under age 16 and 116 AED for applicants age 16 and older. The Passport Card takes longer to issue than the Passport Book. Processing takes four to six weeks.
