Message for U.S. Citizens: Closure of U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi and Consulate General Dubai on May 16, 2022

Event:  His Highness, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, passed away on May 13, 2022.  The UAE government announced that all federal offices, local institutions, and the private sector will close for a three-day period, beginning on Saturday, May 14, through Monday, May 16.  The U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai will close on Monday, May 16, and will resume normal operations on Tuesday, May 17.  For emergency assistance, please see the contact information below. 

In addition, the UAE government announced an official mourning period, which will run from May 13 to June 21.
