Diversity Visas: Delayed Opening of the DV-2021 Entrant Status Check
- The Department is postponing the opening of the Entrant Status Check for DV-2021 applicants from May 5 to June 6, 2020.
- The Department’s resources are currently being used in its role in the COVID-19 pandemic response and are being prioritized for the assistance to U.S. citizens overseas.
- The delayed opening will not negatively impact our ability to pre-process and schedule DV-2021 interviews, which are scheduled to begin on October 1, 2020. The Department of State takes seriously our role in administering the Diversity Visa Program in accordance with all laws and regulations.
- On or about June 6, information on the Entrant Status Check at E-DV website will be updated to inform all entrants if their online registration was selected or not. You will need to enter your confirmation number, which you obtained when you filled out your entry form, to check your entry status.

The Immigration Act of 1990 established the Diversity Visa (DV) program, where 55,000 immigrant visas would be available in an annual lottery, starting in fiscal year 1995. The lottery aims to diversify the immigrant population in the United States, by selecting applicants mostly from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States in the previous five years.
