Applications Open for the 2019-20 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai invite UAE citizens to apply for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for the 2019-2020 academic year. Applicants should be mid-career professionals who have a proven track record of leadership, a commitment to public service, and the ability to undertake an independent study program.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship is one of the flagship exchange programs offered by the United States Department of State worldwide. It brings accomplished young and mid-level professionals to the United States for a one-year non-degree program of combined academic and professional opportunities in a variety of fields. The program is highly competitive and is targeted towards the most qualified applicants in both the public and private sectors.

Interested applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, 5 years of work experience, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a record of public service. Applicants must be able to communicate in English and provide TOEFL scores. If an applicant has a low TOEFL score, this does not disqualify him or her from taking part in the fellowship. However, they may have an opportunity to take English language training in the U.S. before the start of the program.

There is no age limit for the program however, applicants under 30 must be able to demonstrate that they possess the maturity and discipline needed to complete the program, while applicants over 50 must be able to prove their ability to contribute in a substantial way to their profession upon return to their home country.

The fellowship is targeted towards Emirati applicants in the following fields: sustainable development, institution building, education and public health. Please see links below for complete list of specialties included in the program.

The U.S. Government covers the majority of the participants’ expenses, including tuition fees, roundtrip airfare, accommodation, monthly stipend and health insurance. Competition is merit-based and people from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be citizens of the United Arab Emirates.

Interested candidates should complete the online application found here: https://iie.embark.com/apply/humphreyfellowship2019.

Application deadline is Monday, October 1, 2018.

Please email Embassy Cultural Attaché Charlotte Fadare at FadareCY@state.gov with questions or if you have trouble using the Embark online application system.
